Investors in the green bond market have awarded CICERO Center for International Climate Research as the best provider of external reviews. This is the second international award for CICERO’s work on green bonds in a month’s time.
On 11 April, CICERO was rated theBest External Review Provider by the Environmental Finance Green Bond Awards 2017.
The panel of judges made up of some of the biggest green bond investors in the world, praised CICERO’s academic and scientific approach.
“We are delighted and proud to receive this award by global investors as a small non-profit science institute in Norway,” said Christa Clapp, head of climate finance at CICERO.
“The award is a recognition for our method, which translates climate science to investors’ needs, with a view to push for greater environmental ambition,” Clapp added.
CICERO has been providing science-based second opinions for a decade, since the inception of the green bond market in 2008. Green bonds are bonds that earmark earnings for environmental investments.
We grade our second opinions with “Shades of Green”– light green, medium green and dark green, showing investors in a clear and simple way what investments are most climate friendly and resilient towards 2050.
Last month, CICERO received a Green Bond Pioneer Award by Climate Bond Initiative for the biggest second opinion provider in 2016.
