​Todd Cherry is an economist and professor at CICERO. His research creates new insights on how to design and implement more effective environmental, energy and climate policies.

Todd Cherry joined CICERO in 2011. He uses experimental methods to investigate how institutional frameworks and behavioral tendencies work together to determine social and market outcomes. Much of his research seeks to understand how alternative institutions can improve the management of collective action problems.

He is professor and chair at the Department of Economics at Appalachian State University, NC (USA). His past appointments include the Rasmuson Chair of Economics at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, the Harlan E. Boyles Professorship at Appalachian State University, a Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State University, and a Research Professor at the University of Wyoming. He currently serves on the editorial team of Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Resource and Energy Economics, and Challenges in Sustainability.
